Group Training Classes

Ruff House Pet Resort offers several obedience classes to meet a variety of customers needs. Our Dog Trainers are educated and experienced with obedience training and behavior modification.

You may choose to start with the basics by attending a Puppy Class, then Basic Obedience, and advance to Canine Good Citizen.

Basic Puppy Class

Date: February 16th, 2020 Saturdays at 9:00am (4 week class)

Puppy Obedience Class is designed for puppies under 6 months old. Socialization with dogs and people, basic manners, introductions to new surfaces, sights, sounds, and surroundings. Crate training, mouthing, chewing, basic handling skills as well as fun and games to keep your dog busy and out of trouble.  This is a great class for anyone that wants to get ready for basic obedience class and eventually become a Canine Good Citizen (CGC).

Basic Obedience Class

Date: March 10th, 2020 Tuesdays at 6:00pm (6 week class)
Date: March 14th 2020, Saturdays at 10:30am (6 week class)

6 week training program where dog owners work one-on-one with their dogs,  in the group classroom setting, to gain understanding and control. Basic Commands using verbal cues and hand signals include sit, down, off, stay and leash walking. Advanced training or Canine Good Citizen are the next step in this series of group classes.

AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Class

Date: March 10 2020, Tuesdays at 7:00pm (6 week class)
Location: Riverside Training Room-Ruff House Pet Resort
Requirements: Basic Obedience Class or Board & Train graduate. Must have good control of your dog and basic skills completed

Canine Good Citizen is an organized AKC program teaching your dog manners and social skills in a public setting. Dogs must learn all the commands and be on cue during distractions, distance, and duration periods. At the end of class your dog will take a 10 point evaluation by an AKC Certified Evaluator and can earn the CGC Certification/Title.

AKC Community Canine Advanced (CGCA Title) Class

Date: January 17th, 2020, Thursdays at 6:30pm (5 week class)

Requirements: Completed Canine Good Citizen Class

AKC Community Canine is an advanced level of the Canine Good Citizen Program. In AKC Community Canine Class, dogs learn the advanced version of the initial 10 manners taught during CGC. Dogs can earn the CGCA (Advanced CGC) title. The goal of AKC Community Canine is to test the dog’s skills in a natural setting not a show ring. AKC Community Canine, the “walks through a crowd” test item will involve the dog walking through a real crowd at a dog show, on a busy sidewalk, at a training club or in a local park. American Kennel Club-CGC Certification Program.

AKC Canine Good Citizen Urban (CGCU Title) Class

AKC Community Canine is an advanced level of the Canine Good Citizen Program taught in an urban setting. In AKC Canine Good Citizen Urban Class, dogs learn the urban version of the initial 10 manners taught during CGC. Dogs can earn the CGCU (Urban CGC) title. The goal of AKC Canine Good Citizen Urban Canine is to test the dog’s skills in a setting with cars, streets, public transportation, entering buildings and walking through a crowded city.
